This knowledge is the king of education, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed. -BG 9.2

Hoping for the Best for All

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Different people are of different mentalities.  Therefore it is not my business either to praise them or to blaspheme them. I only desire their welfare, hoping that they will agree to become one with the Supersoul, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna. -SB 7.13.42

In Honor of Earth Day Embrace Truthfulness Today and Everyday

Saturday, April 21, 2012

There is nothing more sinful than untruthfulness. Because of this, mother earth once said, "I can bear any heavy thing except a person who is a liar." -SB 8.20.4

PURPORT

On the surface of the earth there are many great mountains and oceans that are very heavy, and mother earth has no difficulty carrying them. But she feels very much overburdened when she carries even one person who is a liar. It is said that in Kali-yuga lying is a common affair: māyaiva vyāvahārike(Bhāg. 12.2.3). Even in the most common dealings, people are accustomed to speaking so many lies. No one is free from the sinful reactions of speaking lies. Under the circumstances, one can just imagine how this has overburdened the earth, and indeed the entire universe. -H.D.G. Srila Prabhupada

Absolute Sweetness

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

A sadhu, a devotee, does not require deliverance, but because he is very much anxious to see the Supreme Lord face to face, Krsna comes not to deliver him from the clutches of matter, from which he has already been delivered, but to satisfy his inner desire. Just as a devotee wants to satisfy the Lord in all respects, the Lord even more wants to satisfy the devotee. Such are the exchanges of loving affairs. -H.D.G. Srila Prabhupada

Reflections On the Gita

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

The Gita calms the whirlwind of passion that pushes us to get things rather than to appreciate them, to exploit beauty and power rather than to honor them, and to acquire knowledge for prestige and remuneration rather than its life-changing revelations. -H.G. Visakha devi dasi

Hanuman's life in the Ramayana is the epitome of unwavering determination to execute the mission. His qualities are unique; strength combined with sweetness, humor flavored with gravity, sharp intellect not covering his childlike innocence, sensitivity along with power, and fierce determination with gentle humility. -Jai Hanuman from Tulsi books

Scary... Yet Quite Interesting

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Therefore, my dear King, the living entity, who has a subtle mental covering, develops all kinds of thoughts and images because of his previous body. Take this from me as certain. There is no possibility of concocting anything mentally without having perceived it in the previous body. -SB 4.29.65
